Tony’s Story
Anthony Isaac Cook was born April 14, 2005, to parents Diana and Bilal Cook. Anthony had 4 brothers, Tyier, Andrew, Alijah, and Abel. They were not only brothers, but best friends as well! They shared a passion for sports and played in multiple organized sports and leagues. Tony loved to attend all of his brothers’ games to cheer for them. He also spent countless hours in pick-up sports with his brothers, cousins, and friends. Anthony loved basketball and played for South Allegheny Youth Basketball Association. He was a black belt in Taekwondo and studied at Dynamic Martial Arts. He participated in various other sports and enjoyed them all! Tony battled Neurofibromatosis, a painful disorder of the nervous system, his whole life. He did not allow this to interfere with what he loved to do. In 2019, he developed a rare cancer called Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor. This is a type of sarcoma which affects the peripheral nerves. He underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery and beat it. The cancer returned and ultimately took his life on 8/8/2021. Tony’s parents felt passionate about starting a foundation to honor this amazing young man. Tony had a passion for sports and for helping others. Due to this aggressive cancer, he had many physical roadblocks keeping him from participating in sports. Tony loved to eliminate the financial roadblocks that are keeping our local youth from participating in sports. We are excited to help make this happen for our youth!
